New Baby, Adoption or Legal Guardianship
You can add your new baby, adopted child, or child under your legal guardianship, within 31 days from the date birth, adoption or guardianship.
If you miss this 31 day window, your next opportunity to make changes is during Annual Enrollment, which is the month of May. Any changes made during Annual Enrollment are effective July 1.
Proof of Dependent Eligibility, such as birth certificate, adoption certificate or guardianship order must be submitted to LAPRA at Benefits@lapra.org within 60 days of the effective date. If documentation is not received by LAPRA within 60 days of the effective date, coverage will be terminated retroactively.
